Going back to school was slow and easy, with yesterday's holiday and the free day I have now ; but don't worry I'm not at a loss how to occupy myself because I have all the common tests to correct, and the second batch is coming in less than three weeks. Tomorrow I have a meeting and Friday is the day when the fourth monthly lesson for the "seconde" is free (we had to do that to get the maths right because of the stupid timetable of the reform).

The weather allowing, I spent a lot of time in the garden, there were a lot of Open Doors and horticultural events near us lately, so I went back but was very reasonnable. I am still in the process of weeding and laying the ground before buying without knowing where to plant, and I sow flowers in the meantime so as not to let the ground unoccupied.

It's a pity the back of the plot is not visible, it was a horrible entanglement of dandelion and bindweed and I'm glad I went through with them. I NEVER use ANY chemicals to get rid of the weeds, and the neighbours or passers by are sometimes amused or sometimes puzzled to see me pulling them all by hand. More than once my neighbour asked me "But you're not using chemicals ?" - seemed hard for her to believe - and said that it was no use pulling them out, they would grow back because tiny pieces of the root were still there... sorry but I know the destiny of a plant is to grow, so I expect them to grow back but then I will tackle them when they are still small and hoe regularly, or I will mulch after weeding so they will get discouraged easily.

It was a huge load of work, of course, and at the beginning we got overwhelmed quickly ; but as years are going by, we can see progress and the garden is filling out and we just bear with the patches that grow back to wilderness. The following year we slowly gain them back. Gardening is a matter of patience !

When I see the results and the progress, year after year, I know that it is all well worth the efforts. And I am really proud that it should be an all natural, pesticide and chemical free garden.

It is good to know that you garden organically, it is so much better for the environment. Your garden is looking better for all the attention you have given it.
