Weeding goes along great, more often than not we're interrupted by the rain, but we also have a lot to do inside the house. In the garden, everything is beautiful, well the weather we have this year allows it ! almost all the flowerbeds are now weeded and raked, there's just that part left, which is near the lawn and I must get the gravel mulching done, and the "jungle" along the road but I had already started here and there ; I transplanted a cosmos plant I found in the gravel near the entrance, but I hope it's still there and the slugs didn't feast on it, the way they did with a sunflower that they killed by eating off the foot of the stem (Jean worked outside yesterday and he told me - assuring me that he had nothing to do with it !
Adieu, petit tournesol, c'est vraiment dommage...
Farewell, little sunflower, it's really a pity...

Some friends from Marseille came over yesterday, they'll come back on Thursday so I can't go to my quilting club (I wanted to go in the afternoon), today we're going to the grandparents' in Didenheim (I'll go to Cernay, to Emmaüs (Goodwill) ! Yeay !), on Tuesday we'll go to my parents' in Reipertswiller (about 200 km away) for their 60th birthday celebration and before that I have to go to have a haircut, and so do the girls...I think that in the coming two weeks I'll take that week-end alone, that I've been dreaming of for a long time, I would very much like to go to the Vosges area and visit the Garden of Berchigranges !

In between all that we did a lot of cooking : on Saturdays we go to the market, and we prepare everything so it's ready to use : vegetable soup for the light dinners, steamed potatoes that'll be ready to be peeled, fried, just heated, or whatever we fancy, salad well washed and cut in "ribbons" that can be kept two or three days in the fridge, some zucchinis, celery and leek cut in slices, and what was left was thrown in a puree - potatoes, celery, carrots and onions - (I did all this over three days...) Yesterday morning, as the weather was bad and I had done all my routines and chores by 9:00 I made vanilla cream and a chocolate mousse ; the girls helped me, they were pleased, - I was less on many occasions, but I don't want to undermine their good will - and it was a good surprise for Jean when he woke up ! And what a delight to eat good home-made cooking !

In the evening I could sit down and do what I had dreamed of for a long time : sew ! We had our friends over, then the rest of the time the girls were breathing down my neck EVERY SINGLE MINUTE - by the evening they were pretty worn out and did a lot of whining, and bickering, and my head felt like it was the size of a pumpkin... and I felt WEARY... so we put them early to bed and for once, they didn't get their bedtime story, just a hug and a kiss and from 9:30 on I could relax and work on this little bag for EliseIl est coupé dans un vieux blue-jean de Jean, Elise a choisi ses motifs que j'ai thermocollés et hier j'ai fait une surpiqûre avec du fil à broder pour consolider les appliqués, cousu le fond et coupé les anses.

It's cut out of one of my husband's old blue-jeans, Elise chose the motifs she liked and I fusible-appliquéed them ; yesterday I outlined them with embroidery floss, sewed the bottom and prepared the handles. And who did I see come down the stairs to join me and see what I was doing, at 10:30 ? Yes that's right, Elise ! All the happier than I had interrupted the making of the bag two months ago due to bad behavior - I would go as far as to say "particularly painful precocious teenage years crisis", yes at the age of 5, children nowadays are sharp, aren't they ?

I also stitched close the bottom of this little bunny, it was an experiment to recycle an old polar-fleece sleeping(thing = the kind of zipped bag babies sleep in in order not to be covered with a blanket) of the girls, and as it turned out rather well, I have enough left to make a dozen bunnies ! of course they'll have eyes !

The result was not so good : in the picture, you can see Cracker Jr (brown-headed) trying to escape from the bunny by climbing on Shampoo, himself all hunched up in a corner of the cage.
