Une robe de princesse

Youpi, j'avance !!! aujourd'hui le temps était maussade et peu propice au jardinage, j'ai donc terminé la robe de princesse d'Elise. Ca ne s'est pas fait sans quelques péripéties... voyez plutôt

Yay, I'm getting there !!! today the weather was not the kind that makes you want to spend the day in the garden, so I finished Elise's princess dress. It didn't go without some difficulties, here and there, as you can seeImpossible de faire quoi que ce soit sans deux petites ombres me suivant tout le temps - it was impossible to do anything without being followed by my "two shadows"A force de "maman" par-ci, "maman" par là toutes les deux minutes... voilà ce qui arrive quand on n'est pas concentré à 100% sur son travail !!! le haut de la robe est à l'endroit, et le bas à l'envers, et la couture à la taille, apparente ! Donc, tout rouvrir, refroncer aux bonnes dimensions, recoudre... Bon, j'en ai quand même profité pour faire un essayage ; je constate avec satisfaction que même si Elise a grandi récemment, la robe lui ira encore :-)

When you try to sew and you hear "Mommy" here, and "Mommy" there every two minutes, here is what happens ! I couldn't concentrate 100% on my work, and the top part of the dress is all right, but the skirt is the wrong way and so is the seam ! So, I ripped everything, and started all over again ! Well I took advantage of it to try it on her and much to my satisfaction, it fits ! She's grown a lot lately and I was afraid it might already be a little short, but it isn't ! :-)

Pendant ce temps, Laure et son papa faisaient des acrobaties... vous me direz que le papa ne faisait pas grand chose, oui, mais il a un torticolis, et porter Laure en ce moment c'est pas du gâteau ! Elle devient sacrément lourde... et elle adore être portée, mais pas seulement. Elle adore quand on la fait "tomber" en arrière, qu'elle se retrouve la tête en bas, et le pire c'est qu'elle se redresse toute seule à la force de ses abdos !!!! Son papa n'a pas de soucis à se faire : sur les deux, il y en a une qui est toujours partante pour sortir, bouger, et elle l'accompagnera sûrement dans ses escapades en montagne, ou autres activités plus sportives qui ne sont pas trop notre tasse de thé, à Elise ni à moi.

In the meantime, Laure and her dad were doing acrobatics... it doesn't look like her dad was doing much actually, but he has a stiff neck, and Laure gets heavier and heavier, so holding her is not a piece of cake anymore ! And she likes to be in our (my) arms, a lot ! She absolutely likes when we make her "fall" backwards, with her head almost touching the floor, and the most incredible part is when she gets back up just with the strength of her abs ! Her dad can be reassured : out of his two girls, at least one will be willing to follow him on his trips in the mountain, or for his sportive activities that are not my cup of tea and neither Elise's.

En tout cas elle s'est éclatée, elle riait aux éclats et ça faisait plaisir à entendre !! Elle a eu un petit coup de barre ce soir où elle n'a pas pu s'arrêter de pleurer, pour une broutille, alors je l'ai invitée à choisir une histoire et je la lui ai lue rien qu'à elle dans mon lit. Je crois que le fait qu'Elise ait eu une robe, et pas elle, l'a un peu chagrinée, ce qui se comprend ! - anyway, she had a blast, and she was laughing out loud, which is always a lovely sound ! Tonight she got tired and whiny and couldn't stop crying, over a trifle, so I told her she could choose a bedtime story and I read it to her and her alone in my bed. I think she was a little sad because Elise got a dress and she didn't, which I can understand.

Et sinon, eh bien le week-end dernier on a eu un temps magnifique, c'est pas trop tôt ! Fête des plantes à Schoppenwihr,

Well, otherwise last week-end the weather was wonderful, it was about time ! "Plant Festival" in Schoppenwihr jardinage, grillades sur la terrasse ! - gardening, and barbeque outside ! Ah, je crois que tout le quartier était dehors matin, midi et soir et tout le monde en a bien profité. Amnistie générale (et exceptionnelle) pour les élèves qui sont arrivés lundi matin sans avoir fait leurs devoirs. J'ai passé deux jours au jardin, pour planter tout ce que j'avais acheté - et dimanche il y avait les portes ouvertes de notre pépiniériste au village... je me suis laissé aller et j'ai dépensé sans compter...

I think all the neighborhood was having lunch outside, all their meals in fact, and everybody made a good day of it. On Monday morning I exceptionally forgave all my students who came in and said "I haven't done my homework..." ; I, myself, spent two days in the garden to plant all the stuff I bought - not to mention that on Sundays there were the Open Doors at our local horticulturist's and I spent a lot of money, I went overboard a little...Le coin potager a changé, et plein d'autres choses d'ailleurs, mais ça fera l'objet d'un autre post, il est de nouveau tard...

The veggie garden has changed, so have many other spots in the garden, but it'll be the subject of another post because it's late again...
