Nous sortons beaucoup / We're away a lot

Pas facile de se mettre à l'ordi et écrire un post ! Nous sommes par monts et par vaux pour occuper les filles, et aussi parce que pendant l'année scolaire nous avons très peu de temps pour une vie sociale très assidue. Donc là on se rattrape et on est invités un peu partout. Comme nous ne sommes pas des goujats, nous ramenons un dessert, ce qui veut dire je suis beaucoup aux fourneaux... ce soir, gâteau aux pommes et double mousse au chocolat pour demain, nous allons voir Armelle et Simon qui ont eu un petit Yohann (N° 3 dans la famille, après deux adorables filles). Samedi nous étions chez des parents d'élève de chez Jean, des gens super-sympas, et nous devrions rendre quelques invitations dans le quartier. Bref, encore de bonnes bouffes en perspective. Il faudra surveiller mon tour de ceinture...

Well it's not easy to sit down and write a post ! We're going all sorts of places to get the girls busy and because during the schoolyear we have very little time for a swirling social life ; so now we're playing catch-up and we've been invited a lot. Since we're good-mannered, we bring a little something - in this case, dessert - which means I spend much time in the kitchen. Tonight, it was apple pie and chocolate mousse (twice as much as usual) for tomorrow at Armelle and Simon's place, they had their 3rd child two weeks ago, a little boy after two adorable girls. On Saturday we were invited by parents from a pupil in Jean's class (he's a kindergarden teacher, he's in charge of 5 / 6 year olds) - very nice people ; and we have to return invitations as well in our neighborhood. Good meals in perspective, great ! But I should watch how my clothes fit in the coming weeks...

Je ne me souviens pas si j'en ai parlé, mais nous avons un nouveau petit lapin. Il avait été abandonné avec ses trois frères et soeurs après un marché aux puces, et la gardienne des filles les avait tous recueilli. Il était juste prévu au départ qu'on l'héberge le temps de lui trouver un nouveau foyer, parce qu'à peine en contact avec Popotte, ils se sont battus ! Par contre il s'entend bien avec les cochons d'Inde, et Laure l'a baptisé Carotte, alors comme il est très gentil et pas encombrant on l'a gardé quand même.

I can't remember if I mentionned him, but we have a new little rabbit. He had been abandoned with his three siblings after a flee market and the girls' nanny gave them shelter. We had planned to keep him until we found him a new home, because hardly had he been in contact with Popotte that they started to fight. But on the other hand, he gets along well with our guinea pigs, and Laure called him Carrot, he's very sweet and doesn't take up much space so we kept him after all.

Samedi dernier nous sommes allés à Bisel pour la fête de la nature. Des animaux, des ateliers, un tour en calèche (mais tirée par un tracteur, pas par des chevaux - la dernière fois que j'ai fait un tour en calèche j'ai fini à l'hôpital : je suis allergique au crin de cheval et j'avais fait un méga oedème de Quincke. Une grosse frayeur.) les filles étaient ravies, et moi aussi. Nous nous sommes essayées à la poterie ! Le monsieur était très patient, très pédagogue, et faisait essayer les grands et les petits (mais bien sûr c'est lui qui faisait tout le travail) qui repartaient ravis avec un pot ;

nos pots sèchent à présent en haut de l'armoire dans l'entrée. Nous ne les ferons pas cuire, nous ne connaissons personne avec ce type de matériel, nous les décorerons avec de la peinture et nous mettrons des fleurs séchées dedans. J'ai aussi acheté des savons faits maison, et nous avons tous passé une après-midi très agréable.

Last Saturday we had been in Bisel for a Nature Fest. There were animals, workshops, we drove through the village in a carriage (but not drawn by horses, by a tractor. The last time I rode in a carriage I ended up in hospital because I'm allergic to horses and my eyes and face had started to swell and itch - Quinck oedema, and a big big fright.), the girls were overjoyed and so was I. We tried our hands at pottery ! The man was really patient, and explained things very well, and made children and grown-ups alike have a try (though he actually did the job) and leave, satisfied, with a pot. Now our pots are drying on top of the hall closet. We don't have or know anyone who has a specific oven so we'll just decorate and paint them and use only dried flowers in them. I also bought homemade soap, and everybody had a pleasant afternoon.

Sinon, eh bien la fée du logis ralentit le rythme et profite aussi des vacances. Les tâches ménagères ne sont plus la priorité, et de menus plaisirs presque oubliés refont surface : j'ai fini le gilet jaune d'Elise, et je travaille à une couverture de bébé qui ne doit pas trop traîner, le bébé a déjà un an... et je dois bien sûr faire un gilet à Laure et j'ai une robe en projet pour moi. Le jardin, lui, se porte bien, je vous en donnerai des nouvelles prochainement.

Otherwise, well, the House Fairy (that's the name of my blog : The Garden and House Fairy) slowed down a little and makes the most of her holidays. Housework is not the priority anymore and small pleasures almost forgotten, resurfaced : I finished Elise's yellow cardigan, I'm working on a baby quilt I must finish quickly for the baby is already one year old... and of course now I must crochet a cardigan for Laure, and I plan to make myself a dress. As for the garden, it's in good shape, more about it very soon.
