Enfin les vacances !! The holidays at last !!

Enfin, on a survécu - mais c'était juste, juste - et là Jean prépare des crêpes avec les filles, on a fait une journée on range, on nettoie et on redonne un visage présentable à la maison qui avait eu tendance à être négligée un peu.

At last, we survived - but barely just - and now Jean is preparing pancakes with the girls, we had a tidying / cleaning day and we gave the house its presentable aspect back because things had slipped a little - a lot.

Notre sapin est fait, pour le plus grand plaisir des filles qui l'ont décoré. Cette année je n'ai pas pu m'en occuper, trop de travail, de réunions, de formations... j'ai pensé aux filles et je les imaginais déballant les décorations, s'exclamant, commentant...

Our tree is decorated, for the girls's greatest pleasure - they did it. This year I couldn't be there and help, too much work, too many meetings and trainings... I thought about them and imagined them unwrapping the decorations, marvelling and commenting...

Et pour parfaire l'ambiance de Noël, la neige est au rendez-vous !! Elise et Laure ont déjà fait de la luge aujourd'hui, et hier ça a valu beaucoup de retard à la SNCF. Vendredi soir une collègue a fait un petit apéro et une petite soirée jeux, j'y suis allée et j'ai dormi là-bas pour ne pas avoir à rentrer dans la nuit et le froid - et j'ai pris le train pour alléger mon bilan carbone. Eh bien, j'ai pris le train de 11h04... à 11h40 !! Ce qui a valu un petit couac à la gare, Jean n'était pas là pour m'accueillir donc j'ai marché jusqu'au lycée où j'avais laissé la voiture (35 minutes dans le froid glacial !!) - mais en fait il n'avait pas vu qu'un autre train arrivait avant le mien qui était prévu avec 20 minutes de retard. On s'est loupé à 5 minutes près. Ce n'est finalement pas grand chose, vu qu'à Mulhouse il y avait des gens qui attendaient depuis bien plus longtemps, les trains qui remontaient de Lyon avaient des retards faramineux, et il y a des trains bloqués dans le tunnel sous la Manche. Donc, on ne va pas se plaindre ! En plus j'ai brûlé des calories et j'ai fait de l'exercice, ça a compensé la pluie de Bredele de Noël qui s'était abattue sur le lycée vendredi. C'est la première année que j'en vois autant ! Et bien entendu j'en ai mangé trop...
And to complete the Christmas atmosphere, it is snowing !! Elise and Laure have already gone sledding today, and yesterday lots of trains were late. On Friday night I was at a colleague's who had organised a little "aperitif" and a "game evening" and I didn't want to go there by car and go back in the dark and snow. And I wanted to lighten my carbon print so I went by train. Well, to go back, I took the 11.04 am train... at 11.40 !! And that caused Jean who came to pick me up to miss me because I arrived 5 minutes earlier than my train, who was 20 minutes late, was announced. Well... so I walked back to my car, that was parked at school, and it was 35 long freezing minutes but I won't complain because I burnt a lot of calories and I got to exercice, to compensate for the fact that on Friday, lots of people showered the school with Bredele (Christmas cookies), they were everywhere and of course I ate too many. It's the first year I've seen so many of them !! Well, to go back to the train situation, in Mulhouse there were people who had been waiting far longer than I had, all the trains coming from Lyon had monstruous delays, and I heard that there were broken down trains in the Eurotunnel (because of the cold). So I'm not the worst off.
