Les jours rallongent, le soleil est sorti de sa réserve et il y a dans l'air une douceur et des chants d'oiseaux qui nous annoncent que oui, enfin, l'hiver est terminé.
Partout dans le jardin la vie jaillit, et on prépare les beaux jours et les futures floraisons. Avec Laure, nous avons planté des pois de senteur, des digitales (maintenant qu'elles sont plus grandes je peux en avoir), semé des capucines, taillé les arbustes.
J'ai toujours plein de copies, mais en corrigeant de 5 en 5 en m'accordant une pause, j'arrive à maîtriser les flux. Et la semaine prochaine je ne serai pas là, j'accompagne un voyage scolaire en Pologne, une sortie pédagogique à Cracovie puis une visite au camp d'Auschwitz. Départ lundi, retour vendredi. Si j'ai le temps là-bas, je mettrai un petit mot !

Days are getting longer, the sun has been less shy and there is a coolness in the air, and bird songs, that announce that winter is over at last.
Everywhere in the garden life is sprouting, and we're getting ready for the sunny days and future blooms. With Laure, we planted sweetpeas, foxgloves (I can now that they're older), sowed nasturtium and pruned the shrubs.
I still have a lot of papers to correct, but by doing them 5 at a time with a break I manage to keep them under control. And next week I will be away, with a school trip to Poland - we visit Krakow and then the Auschwitz camp. Departure on Monday, and we'll be back on Friday. If I get to I'll write a note when I'm there !

Merci à tout le monde pour vos gentils messages concernant la perte de notre cher Popotte - les filles s'en sont très vite remises. C'est moi qui ai le coeur qui se serre le matin quand je passe devant la cage vide. Je vais faire mon deuil et on prendra sans doute un lapin bélier, avec les oreilles qui tombent !
Thank you everybody for your kind messages concerning the loss of our dear Popotte - the girls are now over it, I'm the one whose heart sinks in the morning when I walk past the empty cage. I'm going to mourn and then we'll take a new rabbit, with drooping ears !

What a beautiful post, Carole. I would love to wander around your little garden sharing the scent of your flowers and the fresh air.
Taking time to grieve is important.
I hope your trip to Poland goes well. Have you visited there before? Auschwitz would be a sobering place to see, full of haunting memories.

Thanks for your comment Lorrie, yes, I have been to Poland 16 years ago. Yes, it is quite an experience to visit Auschwitz.
Now that I'm grown, and a mother, I think I will have another approach and another feeling. There is a film called "La Rafle" in French cinemas now about the deportation of the French Jews in 1942 who were transitionning through the "Velodrome d'Hiver" in Paris before being sent to the camps - known as "la rafle du Vel d'Hiv" - and there are heartwrenching scenes of the children being separated from their mothers - it makes me cry just to think about them. When you walk around there, and you think of the utter evil deeds that took place there - it's too big and ungraspable. Everybody should go there once in their lives.
