Mes semis d'hiver lèvent ! My winter sowings are sprouting !

Deux semaines maintenant qu'on est rentrés, et c'est déjà la folie furieuse. Et pour ne rien arranger, l'hiver s'attarde et revient... en ce moment on est plutôt complètement à plat, et le froid et la neige (eh oui, on en a encore, il en est retombé) excitent les enfants et fatiguent les grands. Donc ce soir, premier soir du week-end, Laure et moi sommes rentrées de l'école sous un inattendu rayon de soleil... et comme ce soir, on peut faire une petite coupure, j'ai filé tout droit au jardin voir où en sont mes petits semis.

We've started school for two weeks and it has been all hectic and frantic since. And to make matters worse, winter is coming back and lingering... we are currently completely worn out, and the cold and snow (well, yes, it is still there and keeps falling now and then) get the children all excited and make the grown-ups weary. So tonight, first night of the week-end, Laure and I got home from school in an unexpected ray of sunshine... and since there's nothing to prepare for tomorrow, I ran into the garden to see what's up with all my little seeds.

Je suis ravie (c'est un euphémisme ! J'ai envie de hurler ma joie ! Mais je suis trop épuisée). Il y a encore des agrostemma, qui ont l'air bien vigoureux, et d'autres que je n'ai pas ouverts parce que c'était un énorme sachet. Quelques gypsophiles pointent également. L'année dernière j'avais semé en place les mêmes bleuets mais ça n'avait rien donné. J'avais bien désherbé, ratissé, mis un engrais de fond, semé les graines, posé un voile de forçage... et je n'ai plus eu le temps. Quelques semaines plus tard, en enlevant le voile, j'ai vu que les mauvaises herbes avaient bien prospéré.

I am delighted (understatement : read : I want to shout for joy from the top of my lungs ! But I am far too exhausted for that). There are some rose campions and baby's breath sprouting too, but I didn't open the bags (it is a huge one). Last year I had sowed the same cornflower seeds, but with no result worth mentionning. I had weeded carefully, raked, applied some fertilizer, sown and then set a canvas... and then life happened and I didn't have any more time. Some weeks later, when I removed the canvas, I saw that the weeds had been very well fed.

Je pense que demain, je vais refaire un tour à la cave et semer à tour de bras !

I think tomorrow I'll go down in the basement and go on sowing to my heart's content !
