Last Sunday we interrupted weeding for a while to go to Neuwiller where a "Sattelfest" (litterally Saddle Party) was held. The girls always jump for joy and are all eyes when horse riders pass by our house, Laure says "I like horses" and Elise "I dreamed of riding a horse". So we thought they might enjoy an afternoon around some of these animals - even if we didn't really know what the programme consisted of. Nonetheless, I had an idea at the back of my mind : make their dream happen.
The event was held in a place called "the blue farm" that looked really nice and you could also ride in carriages - unfortunately we were too late for that and it was over, Elise couldn't take part in it - disappointment and tears. BUT !!! Look what she could do, and of course her little sister as well ; there was a horse riding club there, and I had spotted a girl who could have been the boss - she was such an expert with the animals, and the sort of responsible, leading type of person ; she showed them how to saddle the horse, put the bit into its mouth, hold the reins, how to make him turn and then I asked her if they could in turn just sit on the horse so we could take a picture. Needless to say, they were in heaven ! I was so happy for them, I had always wondered how I could get them on a horse and grant their wish. Unfortunately we had to hurry home after that because my eyes were itching and aching : the sad reality is that their mom is allergic to horses !
