Before showing the last series of pictures, a little break in a restaurant, because mind you, is it worth travelling to another country and not taste the local dishes ?? Is it worth going into the same "restaurant of bad food" that you have at home (I'm not going to name the world known fast-food restaurant chain...), where it's expensive, nutritionally poor and unsatisfaying and all in all, not real food ?

En amuse-bouche, nous avons eu droit à un mini-petit pain, que nous avons pu tartiner de fromage avec des assaisonnements et fines herbes.
So we asked our guide for advice and as a thank you she was our guest for lunch. She took us to this typical restaurant that is totally worth a visit !
As an "amuse-bouche", we got these mini rolls that we spread with cheese seasonned with herbs.

I ate a "kapusniak" - reminded me a lot of the one I ate in Slovakia, but here there was no sour cream with it.

Then stuffed cabbage (golabki - can't type it with the Polish font, I don't have it !!) - it reminded me of a very similar Hungarian dish.

This is what Agnieszka, our guide, ate - potatoe (... I can't find the English word for it !!). She very kindly made me taste a piece and it was delicious ! We have an equivalent of this in Alsace (it has a different name in my region than here).

And to finish, Kluski !! We had ordered them for the table, so that everybody could help themselves and taste them... Delicious !! They are not as heavy as gnocchi, they're airy and had a nice consistency, I loved them !!

I agree with you 100 per cent! What is the point of traveling to eat the same food as at home? Ça ne vaut rien!
Part of enjoying and learning about culture is the food, because food and culture/tradition go together. You made a comment on another blog recently (celui d'Elizabeth, je crois)about being together as family and friends and enjoying food together. It's so important. I've read that families who eat together tend to have less problems than those who do not.
I'm always interested to see what people around the world eat.
It's so good to taste some of the local cuisine.
