After Györ, we had a little time left so we went as far as Komàrom - a city cut in two after Hungary was sliced up in 1920 because the Danube flows through it.
After some thought and because our touristic Green Guide stated it was more interesting, we went on the Slovak side, also because it's more convenient for us to pay in euros...

We had a little snack at 4, and of course the girls insisted again to have it on the roof of the car...

One of the buildings indicated as belonging to the most ancient in the city. I love this architectural style that can be found in many cities in the East of Hungary.

It was very hot, so we took shelter in a park, in the shadow of the trees, near the fountain...

From afar we thought it would be a castle, but in fact it's a single tower - a water tower...

A highschool ! It's wonderful, it must be very pleasant to work here...

We stopped on the Europe place for a drink. Jean had seen a TV report about it and told me it was a medley of lots of architectural styles from the whole world. I got a strong impression that the Hungarian minority influenced the project a lot ? I really wonder.

My impression got stronger when I saw this crown of the Hungarian kings on top of this tower : this shape, this tilted cross, there it is, unmistakably. I wondered if there had been any controversy and how they could get away with it. You have to know that the relations between Slovaks and the Hungarian minority are getting a little tense and we saw some billboards from the latest elections, one of which caught my eye : a slovak flag in the colours of Hungary. It was the Nationalist party waving the threat of the Hungarian minority's seizure of the country after the new Hungarian government automatically granted Hungarian nationality and a passport to every member of the minority in the neighbouring countries. Some Slovak took it really badly (whereas in Romania nobody said anything, which surprised me a little, but it's a good thing) because to them it's an expression of the will to go back to the Great Hungary from before 1920, thus to negate Slovak identity and culture...
Fortunately, this party got a ridiculously low score, and is in no way representative of the majority of the Slovaks... But the thing is, I never really feel comfortable enough in Bratislava, to ask people if they speak Hungarian when we can't communicate.

The city is really pleasant and the buildings were nicely redone, and the girls even found a little stationnary store to buy some little things that they need for september when they go back to school.

Then we crossed the bridge back to Hungary, and go all the way back to Mosonmagyarovàr - which was a little long and will be remembered as a little hard to bear for the girls, thus for us...
