Le jardin en 2012 / My garden in 2012

Unfortunately I don't have many pics to show for last year. I was really overwhelmed at work, I had to be team leader in addition to all my daily tasks and it was really a lot of work, and my relations with the board of directors was rather tense... the last 3 or 4 years had been really tough and I really felt unsure about carrying on teaching, and I had great doubts about my vocation. And it wasn't even because of the pupils, quite the contrary, they were balm to my weary soul more than once, I was very lucky to have such nice classes.

Now after all this time, and thanks to a great, committed and very understanding colleague who accepted to take over the burden, and after many visits to a sophrologist, and sessions about handling your emotions, and letting go and various other techniques and well-being endeavours, my garden has once again become one of my centers of interest. I had lost my mojo, and my enthusiasm, my priority was very often to have a rest and sleep - and in the meantime the weeds really took the upper hand. Some places had been completely invaded and I have lots of work awaiting in the spring. But I'm looking forward to it, and I'm already writing out lists of things to do, plants to move to a different spot, and many other garden-related good resolutions.
narcisses Minnow - je les avais oubliés - I had forgotten I had planted them !
Les marguerites ont pris le dessus - the daisies had taken over

Iris Chapeau
Those were a great achievement : my irises. The white and purple one is "Chapeau" and the wonderful white one is Skating Party. Thank God they are not too demanding !
Iris Skating Party
On voit que l'herbe n'est pas tondue / the grass is too high and should be mowed

At the back of the house, I had two containers with diascia that I could take care of on and off and did rather well. I had to cut them back, water and fertilise them at one point because they were in a pitiful state, but got over it pretty well - the slugs had been snacking on them.

You can see the bindweeds between the spirea and the columbines, but it was worse at the end of the season... but another page is waiting to be written and I'm going to put some order back in these spaces this year. And I hope to have beautiful pictures to show very soon, and to keep you updated on how my winter sowing is going along.

Lovely photos of your garden. I love the orange behind the flowers in the last ones... spirea?

Thanks for your visit to WMG! Glad the dogwoods made you happy for a few moments :)
