Les vacances 6 / Our holidays 6 : LE mariage en Angleterre /THE wedding in England

So here we are : after hours of getting ready in the hotel bathroom, after checking everybody's make up and hair and how their clothes look, we all arrived in Wokingham for my little sister's wedding.
The wedding hall was magnificent, with portraits of kings hung on the walls, and the inside architecture and the colours all conveyed a feeling of splendour and solemnity. (on the other hand we hadn't thought that this was the Town Hall, from outside, we suspected it looked like it but what would have been the entrance was a pharmacy... weird for us to see shops in the same building)
Les puces sur leur 31 - the girls dressed up to the 9s
Et voilà, ils sont mariés ! There they are, they are husband and wife !
Les mariés au balcon, on attend le baiser - The couple on the balcony, we are waiting for the kiss !
The batteries were getting empty so the camera was very slow, and I missed the kiss every time !
They are arriving at the reception, in a taxi, with a driver named James - for us Frenchies, it is all so typically British !

Not to mention the hotel - a 1880 building...
... avec du gazon et un grand jardin... with lawn and a big garden...
... un bassin avec des poissons (ou plutôt 1 poisson selon Laure) ... and a pond with fish (just 1 fish from what Laure said)
lavande et roses, un cadre magnifique ! Lavender and roses, in a wonderful setting !
The pond, where Laure spent a great amount of time. We even looked for her everywhere, wondering where on earth she had gone. Well she was there, watching THE fish.

Really beautiful... and the inside of the hotel was just as refined and cozy, with carpet in the toilets !
The groom making his speech - but it was the second one in Alsace that was truly hilarious : it was translated on Google and noone - not even the bride - really knew what he meant... Thank new brother in law for this really funny moment !
And of course all the girls in the family couldn't help dreaming and try on the bride's veil
Oui, toutes ! (bon, sur demande express des plus petites... mais comme nous n'avons fait qu'un mariage civil, je voulais voir comment ça fait) Yes, all of them ! (well, the little ones asked me to... but as I didn't have a religious wedding and white dress, I wanted to see how it feels)

One thing is sure : this wedding was THE wedding of the year for us, whatever Kate and William might say.

What an exciting day for everyone. The wedding hall is beautiful, as is the hotel. I wish the bride and groom a long and happy marriage.

What a fun report of a beautiful day. I love the idea of the groom translating his speech via Google - hilarious! Sometimes students try doing that and are amazed that teachers can figure it out so fast.

I think all the girls, daughters and mama, look wonderful in the veil!
